Chrysler the Scientist

Today we were very lucky in Tawa as we had our own SCIENTIST in class. Chrysler, or Mr Chrysler as he was known today, came to school with a volcano he had created at home with help from his mum. He made this from paper mache and painted it so that it looked like a real volcano.
He also brought with him some baking soda and vinegar. We invited Rata class along to watch this with us and we got to see his volcano erupt! We learnt that there was a chemical reaction between the baking soda and the vinegar, we even used red food colouring so that it looked like real lava! It flowed out of the volcano and looked awesome. He even answered some questions about it for us afterwards.
Thank you Chrysler for sharing your learning with us. We look forward to doing more science experiments in Tawa this year.
