Chrysler the Scientist

Today we were very lucky in Tawa as we had our own SCIENTIST in class. Chrysler, or Mr Chrysler as he was known today, came to school with a volcano he had created at home with help from his mum. He made this from paper mache and painted it so that it looked like a real volcano.
He also brought with him some baking soda and vinegar. We invited Rata class along to watch this with us and we got to see his volcano erupt! We learnt that there was a chemical reaction between the baking soda and the vinegar, we even used red food colouring so that it looked like real lava! It flowed out of the volcano and looked awesome. He even answered some questions about it for us afterwards.
Thank you Chrysler for sharing your learning with us. We look forward to doing more science experiments in Tawa this year.

  1. Wow. Wow. This should go viral with the Gilberthorpe Children.. There should be scientific experiements popping up everywhere

  2. Hey there i like the blog and the photos i thorght that it
was going to exsplode on me but i was like
how bad can it be good job
chrysler and nice work on the volcano.

  3. Hi tawa.Tawa class blog post of Chrysler's lava volcano is awesome great job chrysler.

  4. Hey Miss Johnstone,
I like how you actually put photos on the post and also that you used WOW! words it is very amazing and interesting and impressive
    From Shyla.
P.S.I was super amazed Miss Johnstone!

    1. So was I Shyla. Isn't it amazing the types of things we can do at home. You should look up some science experiments that you could share with the class too. They are a lot of fun!

  5. How cool is this!!! What a great effort Chrysler, you have put a lot of time and thought into this. I am sure the students loved watching your experiment, outstanding work. I wonder what experiment we will see next.....

  6. What an awesome experiment Chrysler. I really liked that you chose red for the colour of the volcano erupting. It looks just like a real volcano.Great work!!!

  7. cool job Miss Johnstone and Chrysler i love it

  8. This looks great, ka pai!
I am a Science teacher at Hornby High School and LOVE that Chrysler designed this awesome project at home! What a great Scientist he is :)
